Ready to stop feeling stuck & start moving forward?

You remember a time when feelings of worry, sadness or loneliness didn’t consume your time, your energy and your

life … but those days feel like a distant memory. Don’t you wish you had the tools to move forward? Change begins right now.

I’m Carolyn and I help teens and adults just like you to find calm, connection and meaning by equipping them with the tools they need to ditch their anxiety, work through their pain and strengthen their relationships. I get it because although I have been a Psychologist for over twenty years, I have also been a lawyer and a non-profit leader – I’ve been through many transitions. I am no stranger to loss, trauma or anxiety. I have devoted my career to being a catalyst for change. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist but someone who “gets” how to adapt and change.

What it is like to
work with me

Safe Haven:

My clients tell me that they feel emotionally safe and they often say to me “I’ve never said that out loud to anyone or even acknowledged that to myself”.  They feel heard, seen and encouraged to invest in themselves, their lives and their relationships.

Collaborative:

I do my best work when you have a sense of urgency around the changes you want to make and you are ready to get started. You are the expert in your life – your values, your beliefs, your thoughts and feelings – therapy is a collaboration. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and strive to be a culturally safe support.

Life Changing:

All good therapy is about change. So much more is known now about brain plasticity and the ability for us all to change throughout our lives. In order to create change in our brains, we must activate the brain by connecting with feelings, beliefs, sensations and experiences. Therapy is about creating new pathways in our brain, getting out of the rut. Are you ready to invest? Let’s get started!

My Therapy Specialties

My approach to therapy combines wisdom and interventions from several different approaches including:

EMDR:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy is a well-researched and effective method of therapy that helps people recover from trauma and other distressing life concerns. It has been successfully used with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss as well as attachment injuries. To learn more about EMDR and how it works visit emdria.org

EMOTIONALLY FOCUSSED THERAPY (EFT):

Do you constantly pull or push away from relationships? EFT can help you break patterns from old hurts by helping you become more aware of your feelings, regulate and share them in a way that strengthens your current relationships or build new ones! EFT for couples demonstrates that over 75% of couples can change their “attachment dance” for the better! Learn more about EFT at ceeft.com

CERTIFIED GRIEF EDUCATOR:

Grief is a universal human experience, but everyone’s journey is unique. Combining trauma informed practice and different clinical approaches, I support people through all types of losses including death, infertility, changes in job, identity or ability, pet loss or attachment injuries to name a few. Grief needs to be expressed and witnessed as a new path forward is created. I am trained as a Certified Grief Educator by internationally renowned grief expert, David Kessler of grief.com

MINDFULNESS BASED THERAPIES:

My approaches incorporate mindfulness and body-based practices such as Mindful Self Compassion (Dr. Kristin Neff). The ability to be safe in our own bodies and in relationships is essential to well-being. Mindfulness is important to self-awareness, regulation and sharing ourselves in relationships.
