"Remember that if you really want to motivate yourself, love is more powerful than fear."
Dr. Kristin Neff, Self-Compassion: Stop Beating Yourself Up and Leave Insecurity Behind
Anxiety & Trauma
Anxiety doesn’t need to be the boss of you ….
You need to calm down, easy for Taylor Swift to say. You’ve tried many times but your mind races with “what ifs”, your body is exhausted and jittery and you find yourself avoiding many of life’s experiences because of worry. Past or even current experiences (I see you COVID-19!) and traumas may have built these paths in your brain to help you cope and they got you here to this moment. I’m so glad they did. But now, anxiety is running too much of your life and you are ready to break out of this pattern, feel calm and confident, find relief.
Therapy for anxiety can help you to:
“Name it to Tame it” as Dr. Dan Siegel says – understand what your body and brain are doing, awareness and understanding are the first steps
Learn proven strategies to experience calm in your mind and body, shift away from the “what ifs” and create new paths in your brain that bring relief
Process old hurts and traumas that may have contributed to your body being “on alert” and shift beliefs that no longer serve you
Invest in your wellbeing and your future
Tailored to your unique needs, I will support you through this process to find relief and calm. It is not you that is the problem, but the cycle that you’re in that needs fixing. With effective therapies like EMDR, body-based techniques and strategies to challenge “what if” thinking, you can break this cycle. I will work with you to have the tools and strategies to invest in your wellbeing and your future.
